Function is a vehicle for expression of ideas and theories while allowing approachability.

All of my pieces are influenced by the same concepts and given the same attention in regard to detail.  The utilitarian work has an added layer of function.  This extra component allows the viewer to engage with the work tactilely and on a more intimate level.
